Friday’s quintet of comedy at The Stand

“Proper” stand-up comedy by five top-class comedians is promised for this week’s ‘Friday Show’ at Edinburgh’s Stand Comedy Club.

Acts include Jimmy McGhie, Ro Campbell, Keir McAllister, a mystery guest and host Susan Morrison.

Keir McAllister has become a Fringe favourite for his impressive stage presence and high punchline ratio. At this year’s Fringe, the comic’s political satire at The Stand called ‘Hey, you’re only Cosmic Dust!’ was popular.

Rising star Jimmy McGhie’s free performance entitled ‘Tribal Gathering’ proved a hit at this year’s Fringe Festival. The Fringe Festival Website described him as ‘a proper pro for no dough’ in his show summary.

A reviewer for the Scotsman who rated his comedy with 4 stars said “McGhie reminds you that an hour of pure stand-up comedy can be a great thing.”

He is known to use clever audience interaction and brilliantly observed remarks which are guaranteed to wreak havoc on the funny bone.

Choose a seat at the front – we dare you!

Joining them will be Scottish-based Aussie comedian Ro Campbell who has toured across the globe and is said to use his worldly experience to create abundant laughter.

The host, Susan Morrison, will provide further rib-tickling between acts. The Glaswegian comic is complimented on her feisty and energetic style used to unite audiences in hysterics.

A spokesperson for The Stand said: “We pride ourselves on being a proper stand-up comedy club where the comedy comes first.

“We have an intimate candle-lit venue in which you can enjoy the comedians in a relaxed manner.

“Our weekend shows including our Friday show is a showcase featuring four acts and a compere. The acts are a mix of national and local comedians so there should be something for everyone.”

Comedian Stuart Mitchell was previously advertised on the venue’s line-up and stated: “They double booked me. I am actually doing a support gig this weekend.”

The show starts at 9pm on Friday September 22. Doors open at 7pm with homemade food available.

Tickets are £12, (£10 concessions). For more information and to book visit http://www.thestand.co.uk/show/28888/the_friday_show
