There are lots of Burns Night celebrations taking place in
Edinburgh to choose from.
Events take place throughout the week, but most are held on Friday,
January 25th, the birthday of the Scottish poet, Robert Burns.

Robert Burns Night, Ghillie

to Sunday 27 January, from 7pm
Guests will be greeted with a dram before being seated for the
Rabbie Burns four-course menu. The haggis will be piped into the room with a
Robert Burns reading and traditional toast. Throughout dinner there will be
live Scottish folk music followed by a full ceilidh experience.

The event is being held in aid of Prostate Scotland and the host
for the evening will be Grant Stott, with speakers: Cammy Goodhall for The
Immortal Memory, Willie Hunter for The Toast for the Lassies, and Anna Morris
for The Reply from the Lassies.

Annasach’s Burns
Night Ceilidh, The Counting House (38 West Nicolson Street)

from 8pm to 11.30pm
The ceilidh starts at 8pm with a break for a buffet supper
served at 9.30pm of haggis or vegetarian haggis, neeps and tatties and a dram
before more dancing.
The Annasach Ceilidh Band will play live with a caller to
explain dances to beginners. Tickets are £20-£25 and the event has sold out in
previous years.
ABBA meets Burns,
Akva (Fountainbridge)

7.30pm
In aid of the charity Whizz Kids, this celebration promises ‘dance
and fun’ at the Swedish bar Akva.
It includes haggis and a Swedish buffet including Swedish
meatballs. There is also a glitter ball and Swedish raffle.

For Burns Night, the venue is selling their Haggis Burger
accompanied by their Maple Smoked Old Fashioned beverage. There will also be
live music from 7pm to 9pm.
They describe their burgher as: “a legendary 1/2lb burger,
topped with a generous portion of locally sourced haggis, whisky-laced
caramelized onions, mature Scottish cheddar and crispy ‘neep’ straws.”

The Burns Night party takes place at their Stroma Lounge at
Hampton House. It includes a whisky cocktail on arrival and live folk music and
highland dancing.
Food includes a cullen skink starter, a recital of Rabbie
Burns’ Address to A Haggis and accompanying toast before the neeps and tatties
and then cranachan and Scottish cheeses and oatcakes.

own Brewhemia Burns Supper, with live Scottish music.

Vegan Burns Night

This Veganuary, Hendersons is celebrating the Great Bard
himself with a vegan Burns Supper.
Expect a canapes and fizz reception followed by a
three-course dinner, including their award-winning vegan haggis, accompanied by
live music.
The Burns Supper costs £30 and includes the welcome fizz and
canapes, vegan cullen skink soup with croutons and crusty bread, Hendersons
haggis served with red wine gravy, root mash and seasonal greens and vegan
Scottish cranachan.
